... Now in its eighth year of presenting concerts, 106 sessions to date, The Wheel Sessions has established itself as the premier location for hearing great jazz in the Upstate. Its musicians regularly represent a wide radius, extending to Charlotte, Asheville, Atlanta, and Charleston. Semi-annual special event concerts feature international artists - Jon Faddis, Ignacio Berroa, and James Carter, Jorge Garcia, Marc Black, and Etienne Charles.
The original Wheel Sessions venue, The Wheel, was a shared arts space in the West Greenville Arts District. The Wheel was extremely warm and intimate, with couches, comfy chairs, and seating in the round. After roughly forty sessions in that space, the Wheel was converted into a retail space and the Wheel Sessions had to seek a new home. The sessions have settled on a most awesome location, a photography studio located in the Heddle Industrial Park on Rutherford Rd. Upon entering the studio you feel as though you've crossed a threshold into a NY City underground jazz club! - For upcoming shows and their location refer to the Next Show and Future Shows tabs on this site.
